About our Apothecary Bars and Elixirs

Wise and ancient cultures prized cacao as edible gold and looked to beneficial botanicals for wellness. We've blended these as never before to create our Apothecary Line of Chocolate Bars and Cacao Elixirs. Known for its high antioxidants, cacao may be an ideal transporter of beneficial botanicals.

Recommended Daily Alchemy

Alchemist's Notebook – Autumns' Lessons, Lightening our Landfill Load


Dear Dagobians,

We hope you are enjoying the fall season, however it manifests where you are. As Autumn settles in here, the wonder of nature speaks boldly with powerful lessons. From our factory windows, we can see mountain ranges speckled with deep reds, oranges and yellows from deciduous trees that stand among the conifers. This is one of nature's reminders that diversity and age make beauty stronger. As the leaves fall and become part of the soil, new cycles of life can begin and be nourished. On nature's calendar, there is no beginning or end, but simply inevitable transitions from one cycle of life to the next.

Each morning's cool, crisp temperatures awaken us fully and bring clarity to our senses. The turning of leaves reminds us how quickly time passes, urging us to live to the fullest and direct ourselves towards the greatest good. Here at Dagoba, nature's latest teachings leave us even more dedicated to making a positive difference from cacao farming communities to your community and in between.

As part of this drive, we continue to assess our operations and purchasing to grow in each area of our Full Circle Sustainability mission: quality, ecology, equity and community. One of our major goals is to reduce our landfill impact to as close to zero as we can, including what happens after our products leave the factory. As part of this, we've been working on making all of our packaging reusable, recyclable or biodegradable. The canister on the right is a great way to reuse our hot chocolate or cacao canisters.

November is National Recycling Month so we're also focused on finding ways to recycle things that local facilities can't. Please join us! Consider setting up a compost at home to recycle food waste (worm bins are fast, easy and odor-free), and check out earth911.org to find ways to recycle all sorts of things in your area. Please remember to help build the market for sustainability by looking for recycled products and packaging. Our Apothecary bars are packed in 100% recycled paperboard, which we now use for all paperboard packaging.
