About These Treasures

Prima Materia 100% - This 100% cacao content bar (no sugar or other additions) is truly edible gold for eating or culinary applications. Careful bean selection and blending ensure a palatable astringency. Sure to become your newest favorite, taking our popular Eclipse 87% up a notch. We can't get enough of it! (2 oz bar; 12/box)

Sambirano 65%, Madagascar Trinitario - This exceptional Single Origin trinitario cacao from Madagascar's Sambirano region offers a light, complex flavor with distinct citrus notes. Sustainable cacao farming is critical in preserving Madagascar’s disappearing subtropical forests - habitat for threatened species and excellent cacao. Like the rest of our Single Origins, this takes organics to new heights. One bite and you're transformed! (2 oz bar; 12/box)

Words from the Heart...of Cacao

In closing, we'd like to share some letters we received from farm workers in Costa Rica, source of our Pacuare chocolate. We seek to source our cacao directly through equitable terms so that farmers and workers can invest in their families, farms, communities and the environment. As one of our valued customers, you are helping us make this happen. Behind every bar lies a family and community who share in the sweet rewards with you and appreciate your support. Please visit our web site to read more letters from Costa Rica, and learn about community development projects in Peru, our partnerships to revive threatened heirloom varietals in Ecuador and how sustainable farming helps communities and the environment in Madagascar .

It is a real pleasure and an honor to work where the environment is so pleasant and familiar. I have worked many years in this company (farm) and I hope to be able to work there many more years. Always when I needed something, the bosses reached out their hand. Therefore I worked with pleasure and enthusiasm all these years. M. Herrera

Our lives have changed. We have a steady job. It is not hard work and the owner has helped us economically. All those who work in the finca (farm) get on together very well. We all appreciate Don Hugo very much. He is a very special person, he has faith in his workers. If they are ill he tries to help them. We have a very nice house from the company. It is a quiet place, where everybody is thankful for helping us. The truth is that we are very happy to live in this finca and to work for Mr Hugo. Quietness, a steady job and well being for the family before all. Thank you very much Mr. Hugo and your family for being so special. The Cruz family
